About The Artist

Born and raised in the Cleveland area, northeast Ohio continues to fuel my passion for art. I currently reside in Berea, Ohio with my husband and two daughters. I earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Visual Communications from Ashland University that included an affiliate program at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. I am also employed as a full-time Graphic Designer with over 30 years of experience.

The subjects of my paintings cover a diverse range: urban landscapes, architecture, nature, animals/sea life, portraits, and abstracts with a painting style that flows from realistic to impressionistic. Keeping the paint fresh and loose is my favorite technique (inspired by Charles Reid and Bob Moyer). Each piece I create is a part of myself and when my art makes people feel something it is very rewarding.

My goal is to capture the beauty, light and mood of each subject while adding a new personal perspective to each piece. Keeping the paint fresh and loose is something I continue to strive toward and continue to push myself to continue learning and improve upon.

I often work from photographic references, but I also enjoy working from life or “plein air”. Both approaches are very different and challenging in their own ways. Photographs allow an infinite amount of time to refer back to the subject. Plein air is more complex - processing everything in front of me and capturing quick glimpses of time while the light and motion are constantly changing. I love experimenting with the paint as it moves on the paper and welcoming those “happy accidents” that occur with this challenging medium of Watercolor.
